Controller / Integrator for Construction and Manufacturing
Job Title: Controller & Business Integrator (Finance & Operations Lead)
Location:Hudson, WI
Reports To: Owner/CEO
Compensation: $105,000 – $120,000 Base + 20% Performance Bonus + Profit Sharing
The Opportunity
We are a high-growth manufacturing and construction firm ($10M Revenue) with a clear path and goal to $30M in 3 years. We have a talented, hard-working team of 9, everyone here is a doer.
We don’t need a “Scorekeeper” who hides in a spreadsheet. We need a financial leader who is willing to put on boots, walk the shop floor, audit the inventory, review client contracts, and hold the operations team accountable to the budget.
The Mission
Your job is to professionalize our financial operations and act as the "glue" between Sales, Manufacturing, and Construction. You will take the operational noise off the Owner’s plate so he can focus on Strategy and Revenue.
To truly integrate with the business, this role is 100% On-Site
. You need to see the shop flow, hear the sales calls, and sit with the team to understand the "Why" behind the numbers.
What You Will Actually Do (The 3 Hats)
Hat 1:The Controller (Finance & Accuracy)
- Own the Books: Execute the monthly close by the 10th. Manage all AP/AR, payroll, and general ledger activity.
- Job Costing Authority: Work with Project Managers to audit active jobs. Ensure "Gross Profit" is real before commissions are paid.
- Cash Flow Management: Manage banking relationships, line of credit, and 13-week cash forecasting so we can invest in growth with confidence.
The Integrator (Process & Collaboration)
- Commercial Support: Review all incoming client contracts (MSAs, Subcontracts) for risk, insurance requirements, and payment terms before we sign.
- Guardian of the Budget: You help the team keep score. You will compare actual spend vs. the estimate and flag variances early.
- SOP Architect: Our team is growing fast and needs structure. You will collaborate with department heads to document workflows that make their lives easier, not harder. If a process is broken, you don't just report it; you fix it.
Manufacturing Oversight (The "Doer")
- Inventory Control: Implement a system to track WIP and raw materials. Manage material oversight like a hawk.
- Efficiency Analysis: Analyze shop throughput. Tell us exactly how much it costs us to produce a widget and where we are losing money in production.
- Process Controls: We strive to continuously improve, and this position will help champion the systems and processes to help us do that.
- Experience: 5+ years as a Controller or Finance Director in a Construction or Manufacturing environment.
- The "Small Biz" Grit: You have worked in a company
