QA Lead Medical Technologist Hematology at Hudson Hospital & Clinic in Hudson, WI

Job Summary

Responsible for performance and reporting of clinical laboratory testing using a variety of automated, semi‑automated and manual technologies. Accurate and timely reporting of test results, initial troubleshooting, instrument maintenance, and adherence to safe laboratory practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow department policies, procedures and systems.
  • Provide a warm welcome and excellent customer service to patients and visitors.
  • Complete laboratory documentation and collect lab specimens, evaluating acceptability.
  • Utilize continuous quality improvement principles to enhance departmental and organizational processes.
  • Participate in department‑wide programs to meet strategic objectives, mandatory education needs, and organizational initiatives.
  • Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, test analysis, reporting, and record maintenance.
  • Maintain proficiency testing records, ensuring samples are tested similarly to patient specimens.
  • Adhere to quality control policies, documenting activities, calibrations, and maintenance.
  • Review quality control data for trends, shifts, or patterns.
  • Assume primary role for Hudson Laboratory LIS projects and testing.
  • Review reference lab billing and assist revenue cycle team with charge questions.
  • Assist with QA tasks such as result review, proficiency testing paperwork, and competency assessments.
  • Assist with writing and revising procedures.
  • Lead training of new personnel and students.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned by Laboratory Manager.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills appropriate for patient care across all age groups.
  • Manual dexterity for safe and accurate venipuncture.
  • Ability to identify problems that could affect test performance or reporting.
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing capabilities in Immunohematology, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Serology, Urinalysis, Microbiology, and Phlebotomy.
