Pharmacy Technician II at Trinity Health MI
OverviewUnder the direction of a Registered Pharmacist, assists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining drug inventory, and patient records. Provides courteous, cooperative, and timely service to patients, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities- Prepares, packages, and distributes medication orders per physician/pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures, or protocols.
- Assist with drug procurement and inventory management. Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures.
- Contributes to effective and quality operation of the department.
- Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation; files documentation; answers telephone and pneumatic tube (where applicable); and handles cash transactions.
- Completes third party adjudication for prescription claims and processes return to stocks according to policy.
- Utilizes computerized prescription dispensing system to complete the following aspects of filling patient prescriptions:
- Create patient profiles.
- Prescription data input
- Third party/insurance processing
- Prescription refilling
- Perform simple pharmaceutical calculations including, but not limited to, days’ supply and weight-based dosing calculations.
- Collect payments using point-of-sale system.
- Participate in the training, education, precepting, and evaluation of pharmacy students and/or residents as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education:
- Minimum:
High School education or equivalent. - Preferred:
Completion of formal pharmacy technician training program.
Credentials/Licensure:
- Minimum:
Pharmacy Technician License (issued by Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Bureau of Professional Licensing) - Preferred:
Certified Pharmacy Technician by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
Related
Experience:
- Preferred: 1+ years pharmacy work experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
