Consultant Cardiologist in Coronary Intervention

We are looking for a suitably experienced colleague to support the complex coronary intervention service including revascularisation of chronic total occlusions. These procedures will all be performed in Hull, however the post will require occasional cover of angiography/angioplasty lists to be undertaken in NLAG. The post is therefore joint between the two Trusts - with the employment contract being with Hull University Teaching Hospitals.
The post-holder will have twin bases - at Castle Hill Hospital (with availability of office space) and at NLAG (with office space at Grimsby). There will be no expectation of travel between Trusts during any working day.
The post will be based sions in HUTH will include participation in the complex coronary intervention lists and candidates must have specialist training in performing complex intervention such as CTOs. In addition, it is anticipated that the successful candidate will contribute to the primary PCI rota for STEMI in HUTH.

Person Specification Professional Registration- oFull Registration with the GMC
- oEntry on the GMC Specialist Register for cardiology with sub‑speciality training in coronary intervention
- oValid ALS certificate
- oClinical training and experience in all aspects of cardiology equivalent to that required for UK CCT.
- oTrained in coronary intervention as a sub‑specialty
- oSignificant experience of undertaking primary PCI independently
- oOther higher degree (e.g. MD or PhD)
- oEvidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months
- oPrevious experience of working in the UK
- oExperience of day to day organisation of cardiology services in a busy teaching hospital
- oAble to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams
- oFamiliar with current structure of Health service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes
- oManagement course and/or qualification
- oThorough understanding of the principles of medical audit and quality improvement. Must be able to demonstrate ability to lead change within a service
- oExperience of conducting clinical research
- oExperience of undergraduate and post‑graduate teaching
- oRelevant research experience with publication of relevant original research, review articles or case reports
- oTeaching skills course/qualification
- oAbility to work flexibly in a changing health service
- oExcellent manner with patients, being sensitive to their needs and fears
- oEvidence of ability to communicate, organise and lead
