This post is for a Specialist Grade doctor in Medical Oncology specialising in gynaecological, colorectal and neuroendocrine cancers is part of the cancer team working across East Yorkshire, North-East Lincolnshire and Goole.
It is anticipated that the post will be based within the Queen's Centre with additional responsibility for caring for patients at Scarborough Hospital and North Lincolnshire Hospital Trust. For work in a peripheral clinic, travelling time is included within the job plan.
Main duties of the jobThe applicant must have a high level of experience and expertise in the management of breast and urology cancers and should be able to demonstrate expertise in oncology at a level consistent with independent practice as a specialist grade. An interest in research and teaching of undergraduates and postgraduates is an advantage. The applicant should have good communication skills, be willing to attend MDT meetings and work effectively as part of a team.

Person Specification Qualifications- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Valid ALS Certificate
- Post graduate qualification in oncology (eg. FRCR, SCE or equivalent)
- Minimum of 12 years full time postgraduate training (or equivalent gained part time)
- At least 6 years' experience in Oncology
- Postgraduate qualification in Education or significant experience in post graduate training
- Full Registration with the GMC
- Ability to offer sound clinical opinion on range of acute medical conditions
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Ability to manage and lead medical/surgical teams
- Ability to lead on smooth and efficient running of the unit
- Ability to organise, prioritise and manage high intensity workload
- Ability to develop, present and ope rationalise coherent ideas for service development/ delivery
- Experience of supervising junior medical staff
- Commitment to formal and informal teaching of medical staff, AHPs and medical students
- Evidence of participation in audit
- Ability to extrapolate clinical research evidence to care for individual patients
- Evidence of having conducted a practice‑changing audit
- Experience of teaching/ training in clinical courses e.g. IMPACT Course, Faculty, ALS Instructor, ALERT Instructor
- Original peer‑reviewed research publications
- Ability to work flexibly in a changing health service
- Excellent manner with patients, being sensitive to their needs and fears
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, GPs, Nurses and other health professionals and flex style as appropriate
- Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional and national levels
- Ability to communicate effectively with external agencies and other disciplines
