This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, motivated and compassionate clinician to join our innovative Colorectal Service as an Advanced Practitioner. We are looking for either an established Advanced Practitioner or a highly experienced clinician with surgical experience and the passion and potential to develop into the role through a fully supported training pathway. This position offers the chance to work within a highly respected multidisciplinary team and play a key role in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of patients referred with suspected colorectal cancer, as well as those requiring urgent and elective colorectal and general surgical care.

The successful candidate will become an integral member of a service committed to innovation, excellence and delivering outstanding patient-centred care.

About the Role More detail about the role

The post holder will be practicing autonomously as an Advanced Practitioner to provide patient-centred quality care. The Advanced Practitioner will work within the multi-professional framework for advanced clinical practice in England (HEE 2017). The post holder will dedicate 80% of their time to clinical duties and 20% to leadership and management, education and research activities, encompassing the four pillars of advanced practice, with duties spanning each of these to include but not limited to independent clinical assessment of complex patients with a range of colorectal cancers;

developing and actioning management plans; independent non-medical prescribing; teaching and education of colleagues across the Trust; service development, active involvement in audit and participation in clinical supervision; working within the MDT; general surgical oncall responsibilities covering inpatient and surgical SDEC flow; advanced clinical procedures applicable to role. The post holder will work collaboratively with the Advanced Practitioners/ Consultant/ Service/operational lead.

They will work with a high degree of autonomy and employ complex decision making and demonstrate core practice capabilities and area specific clinical competence.

The role will be based at NDDH.

The role also has responsibilities for supporting the general surgical on call team working estimated 1 in 5 weeks.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week.
