SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 ASD Support, Mornings Only, Rugby
Some pupils need one person who shows up every day, learns what works, and quietly gets on with it. This is that role.
We're recruiting on behalf of a mainstream school in Rugby, Warwickshire. They're looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with an ASD diagnosis. It's a morning-only position - 8:30 am to 1:15 pm, Monday to Friday - on a long-term basis. The school is keen to have someone in place as soon as possible, ideally before the Easter break.
The pupil is intelligent and enjoys conversation, with a particular enthusiasm for trains and Lego. They're also an EAL learner, so clear and patient communication in English matters. Most mornings run well. When things do become overwhelming, the school has a calm, considered approach - a separate space to regulate, Lego available when needed, and a Headteacher who's hands-on and supportive.

You won't be left to figure it out alone.
Your responsibilities will include:

* Providing consistent 1:1 support to a Year 3 pupil with ASD throughout morning sessions

* Building a calm, trusting relationship that helps the pupil engage with learning

* Using the pupil's interests - particularly trains and Lego - to support focus and regulation

* Gently setting boundaries and expectations in a way the pupil can accept

* Supporting the wider class when your 1:1 support isn't actively needed

* Working alongside the class teacher and communicating clearly with the SENCO

* Following agreed strategies and contributing observations to the wider support team
We're looking for someone who:

* Has experience supporting pupils with ASD or other SEN needs in a school setting

* Stays calm and grounded when behaviour becomes challenging

* Builds trust gradually - patient over weeks, not just in individual moments

* Communicates clearly in English (essential for this role)

* Understands the value of consistency for a pupil who's had several changes of support

* Is happy working mornings only in a mainstream primary environment

* Holds or is working towards a relevant qualification (valued, not essential)
What's on offer:

* Long-term role with an ASAP start, ideally before Easter

* 8:30 am - 1:15 pm, Monday to Friday (mornings only)

* Supportive class teacher and an accessible Headteacher

* A school with a genuine inclusion ethos
Why Sprint?
If you're looking to work as a teacher in a mainstream classroom, providing day-to-day supply cover, we're probably not the agency for you. But if you're passionate about supporting students with additional needs and want a long-term role where you can build consistency and see the impact of your work every day, that's exactly what we do.
