Hull Training and Adult Education, part of Hull City Council, is one of the largest providers of vocational training and further education in the region with an excellent reputation for delivering quality courses to industry. In line with a planned move into a new bespoke city centre training facility in late 2026 we are now seeking a Specialist Tutor to oversee our Fabrication & Welding curriculum.

This individual will have the autonomy to design and deliver a brand-new curriculum and contribute to meeting planned growth targets for the engineering department. We are seeking an inspiring and enthusiastic individual with relevant fabrication and welding vocational experience and qualifications who can make a significant contribution to the quality of our provision. Experience of apprenticeship standards and knowledge of Dfe funded delivery would be an advantage, as would teacher training and/or assessing qualifications.

You will be expected to deliver both practical and theory-based sessions to students as well as carry out work-based visits to employers so good communication skills and an ability to motivate others is essential. You will also be expected to effectively monitor and track the progress of learners, identify and implement extra support where needed and proactively encourage all learners to successfully achieve their qualifications.

ROLE AND PURPOSE Supports the Centre manager and Deputy Head of service lead manager in implementing the learning and development approach. Working in Hull training Adult Education (HTAE) enabling services in the delivery of City workforce development and local employers upskilling targets to achieve business plans for their business. Working with HTAE Executive Board, Elected Members, Assistant Director and Head of Service at all levels across the partnership to ensure the learning creates wider opportunities for the organisational upskilling and underpins the achievement of the City Economic Plan and LSIP targets.

The post holder will be directly responsible for the effective coaching, teaching, planning and organising of occupational skills training to apprenticeship standards and technical certificates as needed, assessing and reviewing learner’s progress and maximising the use of resources. Responsible for their own teaching, assessment and quality of the engineering programmes delivered at the engineering centre. Developing and providing curriculum that meets the requirements of local people, companies, commerce and industry.

The post holder will provide individualised high quality careers education information advice and guidance (CEIAG) to existing and future cohorts internally and externally engaging learners and employers whilst promoting the service’s engineering provision. The post holder will ensure that effective Gatsby benchmarks are implemented within their curriculum plans.
