Functional Skills Tutor

Academics Hull is looking for enthusiastic, supportive and knowledgeable Functional Skills Tutors to work with education providers and learning settings across Hull and the surrounding areas. Functional Skills teaching offers the chance to work with learners from a variety of backgrounds, abilities and educational experiences. We're keen to hear from tutors who can make English and Maths accessible, engaging and relevant to everyday life.

What could your next role involve? Delivering engaging Functional Skills lessons in English and/or Maths. Supporting learners working towards Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications. Planning and adapting sessions to meet individual learning needs and abilities. Breaking down challenging concepts into clear, practical and accessible learning. Preparing learners for assessments and recognised Functional Skills qualifications. Monitoring progress, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for development.

What we're looking for A relevant teaching or tutoring qualification, such as a Level 3 Award in Education and Training, Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or equivalent. Strong subject knowledge in Functional Skills English and/or Maths. Experience delivering education or training to learners with varied abilities and backgrounds. The ability to differentiate teaching and adapt resources to individual needs.

A patient, encouraging approach with the ability to build positive relationships. Experience supporting learners in further education, alternative provision, adult education, vocational training or similar settings would be advantageous. Why work with Academics Hull?
