Electrical Maintenance Engineer – Field Based

Location: South East Region

Hours: Monday–Friday | Field Based | Occasional Overnight Stays Required

Bonus: Quarterly and Annual Performance Bonuses | Up to 15%

Company Benefits: Company Van with Personal Use, Travel Expenses Covered, Performance Bonuses and Ongoing Technical Development.

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join an established energy generation business, supporting a network of operational sites across the South East.

This is a hands‑on, field‑based engineering position working across industrial power generation and energy infrastructure, including equipment used to capture and convert landfill gas into electricity.

You’ll be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance, fault finding and repairs across operational sites, working closely with experienced Field Service Engineers to ensure equipment remains safe, reliable and operating efficiently.

Alongside day‑to‑day maintenance, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge of power generation equipment, gas monitoring systems and associated electrical infrastructure, with exposure to a varied range of sites and engineering challenges.

This role would suit an electrically biased Maintenance Engineer or Technician from an industrial or manufacturing background who enjoys hands‑on fault finding and is looking to develop their career within the energy sector.

Previous power generation experience is not essential, providing you have a strong electrical industrial maintenance background and are comfortable working independently across different sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across power generation equipment and associated site infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults, responding efficiently to equipment breakdowns and operational issues.
  • Fault find and troubleshoot electrical systems, motors, control equipment and associated industrial machinery.
  • Support the maintenance and reliability of gas extraction, monitoring and power generation equipment.
  • Work alongside Field Service Engineers to complete maintenance activities, repairs and equipment inspections.
  • Assist with identifying recurring equipment failures and implementing improvements to plant reliability.
  • Support preventative maintenance programmes to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Carry out electrical inspections, testing and routine equipment checks in accordance with site procedures.
  • Identify replacement components and assist with repairs and equipment upgrades where required.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and report equipment defects or operational concerns.
  • Travel between operational sites across the region, with occasional overnight stays where required.
  • Maintain high standards of Health & Safety and electrical engineering best practice.
You Should Have
  • A recognised electrical engineering qualification, ideally HNC or equivalent.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding, maintenance and repair skills.
  • Experience working with industrial electrical equipment within a manufacturing, engineering, utilities or similar environment.
  • A good understanding of electrical control systems, motors and associated equipment.
  • Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Confidence working independently and taking ownership of maintenance activities.
  • A willingness to travel between operational sites across the region.

A good understanding of Health & Safety within an industrial engineering environment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with other engineers and operational teams.
  • An 18th Edition qualification would be advantageous.

The ideal candidate will be an electrically biased Maintenance Engineer or Technician with a strong industrial maintenance background and a genuine interest in renewable energy and power generation.

Previous experience working with generators, gas engines, power generation equipment or field service maintenance would be advantageous, although candidates from other industrial and manufacturing backgrounds will also be considered.
