Job Description & How to Apply Below
You'll take real ownership of the transactional side of the finance function, invoices, credit cards and sales ledger, working alongside budget holders and the wider finance team. This one suits someone who already knows their way around a busy finance desk and wants to get stuck in from week one. You'll need to be quick with numbers, comfortable picking up new systems, and genuinely careful with the detail, because a lot of what lands on this desk needs to be right first time, not fixed later.
What You Will Be Doing Processing purchase orders, invoices, petty cash and credit card transactions day to day, keeping everything moving cking every entry has proper authorisation before it goes anywhere near the finance system. Managing supplier relationships, sorting out queries as they come up and keeping payments running to terms. Helping put together the weekly payment run, with everything checked and authorised at each stage.
Working through company credit card statements line by line, matching every transaction to what's been posted. Chasing overdue accounts through calls and standard letters, and flagging the ones that need pushing further up. Handling internal recharges between departments accurately and on schedule. Getting the bank reconciliation done on time, coding everything correctly as you go. Carrying out due diligence on any new supplier, including independently verifying bank details before that first payment is made.
Being a point of contact for more junior colleagues, showing them the ropes on purchasing processes. What We Need From You Available immediately or on a short notice period, this cover is needed straight away. A genuinely careful approach, this role handles a high volume of transactions and mistakes aren't easily hidden. Experience in a fast-moving office where you're used to juggling priorities.
A finance background with hands-on purchase ledger, sales ledger or similar transactional experience. Comfortable learning a new finance system quickly if ours isn't one you've used. Able to work independently but just as happy mucking in as part of a team. Confident communicating with people at every level of the business, not just within finance. AAT or equivalent hands-on experience.
Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check, this is required for the role. What's in it for you A real shot at a permanent role if you're the right fit, this isn't cover for the sake of it. Hybrid working. Exposure to a growing, varied organisation. No two days looking quite the same. Proper support and training while you find your feet.
A team that will genuinely have your back. On-site parking. If you're someone who takes pride in getting the numbers right, we'd love to hear from you.
