Main duties of the job

As Treatment Team Leader, you will:

  • Oversee daily operations in treatment delivery, ensuring a safe, high‑quality service.
  • Lead and mentor a team of radiographers, fostering professional growth and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain clinical expertise and contribute to service development, research, and innovation.
  • Act as a key member of the senior radiotherapy management team, influencing future advancements in care.
Specialist Leadership Opportunity

One of the Treatment Delivery Team Leaders will take on specific responsibility for brachytherapy and superficial radiotherapy services – integral to our comprehensive cancer care pathway.

  • HDR brachytherapy for gynaecological cancers
  • Electro‑brachytherapy for colorectal cancers

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of these advanced techniques, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.
  • Work closely with oncologists, physicists, and nursing teams to develop and implement innovative treatment protocols.
  • Drive service improvements and contribute to research projects that shape the future of brachytherapy and superficial treatments.

Job responsibilities
  • HCPC‑registered Therapeutic Radiographer with significant experience in treatment delivery and verification.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and support your team.
  • Evidence of postgraduate qualifications or commitment to M‑level study.
  • A passion for patient‑centred care and service excellence.
Person Specification Essential
  • oBSc (Hons) in Therapy Radiography or equivalent.
  • oHCPC Registration.
  • oEvidence of CPD.
  • oIELTS (International English Language Testing System) – Level 7.
Desirable
  • M‑level modules or postgraduate qualifications.
  • GCP Training.
  • Experience with implementation of new technology or service improvements.
  • Exposure to other NHS radiotherapy centres.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Good communication – verbal/written.
  • Be able to work on own initiative.
  • Works well with in a team.
  • Demonstrates understanding of confidentiality.
  • Participate in standard setting and research projects.
  • Evidence showing clinical and professional development.
  • To be able to plan, assess, evaluate and implement patient care.
  • Ability to prioritise care associated with changing environment/patient demands.
  • Facilitate learning of others.
  • Experience leading team meetings or presenting at MDTs.
