Overview
As a Clinical Perfusion Scientist, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care, ensuring the safe and effective management of patients physiological functions. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with various healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The Perfusion Department at Castle Hill Hospital is a leading centre for cardiothoracic care, performing around 700 cardiac procedures annually.
Responsibilities- Provide Clinical Perfusion and specialist services as part of a team and be fully registered with the College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists GB&I.
- Perform highly specialist perfusion science activities relating to cardiopulmonary bypass with emphasis on clinical, technical and scientific aspects.
- Perform a wide range of complex blood coagulation assays and interpret and report results to staff including Cardiologists, Cardiac Surgeons, Nursing staff, Physiology Technicians and ODPS.
- Maintain intense concentration for extended periods during routine and specialist perfusion techniques, especially while monitoring complex data during cardiopulmonary bypass.
- Adapt to a dynamic clinical environment with unpredictable workloads, emergency procedures, deadlines and critical situations.
- Participate in the department s on-call rota to ensure the smooth operation of a 24-hour service.

- Fully registered with the College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists GB&I.
- Preference for appointment at Band 8a; applications from UK and internationally qualified perfusionists are welcome, with a pathway to Band 8a.
- For international candidates or those not yet fully registered in the UK, a structured training program in collaboration with Bristol University is provided to support gaining full UK registration.
