Housekeeper

The closing date is 01 July 2026.

The Day Surgery Centre (DSC) provides dedicated day surgery facilities for adult patients through a suite of 10 operating theatres, recovery, pre/post‑operative care and pre‑assessment.

As a Housekeeper the post holder will coordinate all hotel services on the unit and work as part of the DSC team to facilitate seamless service delivery and ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment is maintained.

The successful applicant will work closely with the existing DSC Housekeeper and other facilities, departments and support services. Excellent communication skills, the ability to work in a team, and a willingness to exercise autonomy in ordering stores, reporting faults and initiating works are essential to help keep the DSC running safely and smoothly.

Key responsibilities include attending necessary meetings, providing relevant feedback within one's scope, and sharing responsibilities with senior staff to enable delegation to the appropriate person.

Main duties of the job

A significant aspect of the role is effective stock ordering and rotation. This includes ensuring that equipment and facilities are maintained, managing an effective cleaning and maintenance regime for the environment, and maintaining medical equipment used within the department. Knowledge of working in a care environment would be an advantage but is not essential.

Academic qualifications are not essential; however, the candidate should be prepared to complete the National Care Certificate. Candidates must possess excellent team‑working and communication skills (both written and verbal) and competent IT skills as most stock ordering is done electronically.

Full training and support will be provided.
