The Medical GP Receptionist is responsible for managing thefront desk and calls. You will be assisting with a variety of administrative tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the medical practice. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain aprofessional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.

A GP receptionist is responsible for greeting patients, managing appointments, updating patient records, handling billing and payments, and ensuring smooth communication between patients and healthcare staff. They maintain a tidy reception area, assist with administrative tasks, and ensure patient confidentiality. The role requires excellent customer service, organizational skills, and adherence to privacy regulations.

Main duties of the job
- Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner as they arrive.
- Answer phone calls, handle inquiries, and schedule appointments.
- Assist patients with filling out forms and collecting necessary documentation (e.g., insurance details).
- Handle cancellations, no-shows, and reminders to ensure the GP's schedule is efficiently maintained.
- Process patient payments, issue receipts.
- Communicate effectively with GPs, nurses, and other staff members to ensure patients are seen in a timely manner.
- Handle any administrative tasks that support the daily operations of the practice, including managing emails and sorting mail.
- Adhere to all privacy and confidentiality standards, including patient confidentiality.
- Assist with managing patient flow to minimize waiting times.
- Handle any emergencies or special requests from patients efficiently and calmly.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your Line Manager.
- Operate clinical computer system (system one) and have strong IT skills.
- Qualifications - GCSE standard or equivallent.
- Care Navigator should have previous experience in customer service or administration, ideally in healthcare, with strong organizational and communication skills. They must be able to handle multiple tasks, maintain patient confidentiality, and work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Preferred experience working in the NHS or Healthcare setting
- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths and equivalent
