Clinical Coding Assistant x1, Full time 37.5 hours. Department:
Clinical Coding, Castle Hill Hospital. Band
2. Permanent.

The role offers training to gain knowledge of medical conditions, the application of the National Clinical Coding Standards and Conventions, and the opportunity to attain a nationally recognised qualification and accreditation.

The post holder will ensure the department has the resources to meet monthly deadlines, including searching for casenotes, managing discharge lists, data entry, and sourcing and interpreting missing patient documentation.

You should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, efficient, with good interpersonal skills, and willing to learn. You will be able to prioritise, plan and organise work daily, and remain calm under pressure. You should be prepared for a challenge, work proactively within the team, and work independently in a dynamic and often pressurised environment.

The successful applicant will have a working knowledge of the Trust IT systems, and a proven record of problem solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.

There is an established career pathway: after attending and passing the Clinical Coding Standards Course, and meeting internal audit requirements, progression to Band 3 is possible when a vacancy arises. You can then work towards the National Clinical Coding Examination and, upon successful completion, progress to Band 4, Senior Clinical Coding Officer.

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent (including English, Math and Science)
