Workforce Officer & Workforce Projects Assistant

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team in a full-time split role
, combining the responsibilities of both a Workforce Officer and a Workforce Projects Assistant
.

This role offers a unique experience and opportunity to work across two key functions within our People and OD Directorate - your time will be split between both the Operational HR Team and the People Experience Team.

As a valued member of the Operational HR Team, you will support a wide range of workforce activities, helping managers and colleagues navigate HR processes and delivering high-quality operational people services.

During your time with the People Experience Team, you will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Trust to deliver an exciting programme of initiatives that support the NHS People Promise and help create positive workplace experiences for our workforce.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop, embed or apply a broad range of skills, build relationships across our organisation, and make a meaningful contribution to both the day-to-day and strategic aspects of our people agenda.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide a comprehensive high quality customer service to staff and managers in the Trust in relation to the provision of advice and guidance on workforce queries, policies and procedures and terms and conditions of employment.
  • Respond to basic operational workforce queries using a range of different methods.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships and effective working relationships across the Trust
  • Provide high-quality Workforce administration support to the Operational HR team.
  • Support managers with the proactive management of sickness absence queries and cases.
  • The post holder will be responsible for assisting the People Experience Manager to work collaboratively across the Trust to deliver a programme of initiatives that encompass all elements of people experience projects.
  • As an integral member of the People Experience Team, the post holder will support change with a proactive and pragmatic approach to all things related to our peoples experiences in the workplace.
  • The post holder will be required to understand, co-ordinate and continually improve our approach to policy review and refresh,
  • With guidance from the team, the post holder will be expected to support transformational change programmes showing innovation in our initiatives which ultimately support our NHS People Promises and our Being Humber behavioural and culture framework.

Person Specification Qualifications and Knowledge
  • Level 3 Certificate in Human Resources Practice (Previously CPP) or equivalent level of experience.
  • Knowledge on a range of Workforce procedures relevant to the role
  • A good understanding of relevant policy, legislation drivers and their application to the relevant service area.
  • Knowledge of NHS systems and structures
Experience
  • Confidence and ability to effectively communicate with wide range of stakeholders including employees, managers and senior managers
  • Experience of using Microsoft software packages
  • Understanding of the need for, and ability to maintain, a high level of confidentiality.
  • Proven track record of providing HR administration support / processing contractual changes in staff records
  • Understanding of a range of workforce procedures and practices, some of which are non-routine and acquired through formal training or equivalent experience e.g., Disclosure and Barring Service
  • Experience of working in the NHS, experience of the ESR (Electronic Staff Record) system and inputting/processing contractual changes to the staff record
Skills and Competencies
  • Ability to commute across sites within the Trusts boundaries effectively.
  • Able to plan and prioritise own time, managing conflicting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
