Use your HR experience to support managers, resolve people matters and contribute to a consistent and positive employee experience.

We are looking for a capable and pragmatic People Advisor to join our expanding People team.

This role will suit someone who enjoys the practical side of HR, including managing employee relations cases, responding to day-to-day queries and supporting managers through people processes. You will work closely with a People Business Partner, who will provide direction and oversight where required, while allowing you to take responsibility for progressing your work and delivering a reliable service to the business.

Why join Ground Control?

Do work that matters - The advice and support you provide will help managers handle employee matters fairly, consistently and with confidence. Whether you are responding to a query, supporting an employee relations case or helping with a business change process, your work will contribute directly to the experience of employees and managers across the organisation.

Build your experience - You will gain exposure to a broad range of people matters within a large and operationally varied business. Alongside day-to-day case management and HR queries, you will support TUPE activity, policy application, documentation and wider People processes. This provides an opportunity to strengthen your practical HR knowledge and develop your confidence across different areas of the employee lifecycle.

Work as part of a supportive team - You will work closely with colleagues across the People team. We are looking for someone who can work competently within their area of responsibility, while recognising when to seek direction or escalate a matter. You will be supported to ask questions, share your views and learn from the experience of others.

Build trusted relationships - You will be a regular point of contact for managers and colleagues, helping them understand People policies, processes and next steps. By providing clear, timely and practical support, you will help build confidence in the People team and contribute to a consistent HR service across the business.

Contribute to continuous improvement - As part of your role, you may identify recurring queries, process gaps or opportunities to improve the way information is communicated or recorded. You will be encouraged to share practical ideas and contribute to improvements where appropriate.

What you will be doing

A significant part of your role will involve managing employee relations cases and responding to day-to-day HR queries.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting managers with performance, conduct, capability, grievance and absence matters
  • Managing cases and maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Responding to queries relating to People policies and procedures
  • Drafting letters, contractual documentation and other HR correspondence
  • Supporting TUPE transfers and other business change activity under appropriate supervision
  • Escalating complex, sensitive or higher-risk matters where required
  • Supporting probation, appraisal and performance management processes
  • Maintaining accurate employee information
  • Assisting with recruitment, onboarding and employee exit processes where required
  • Supporting policy reviews, People projects and wider team priorities
  • Sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues across the People team

What we are looking for

You will have previous experience working in an HR or People advisory role and a practical understanding of employee relations processes.

You will also need:

  • Experience supporting disciplinary, grievance, performance, capability and absence matters
  • The ability to manage a varied workload and progress work within agreed timescales
  • Confidence responding to managers and explaining HR processes clearly
  • Good judgement and the ability to recognise when guidance or escalation is required
  • A pragmatic and solutions-focused approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to take direction and work effectively as part of a wider team
