Overview
Ward C29 in the Queens Centre has an exciting opportunity for a committed, experienced and aspiring nurse to lead an established enthusiastic nursing team who already provide high standards of holistic nursing care to patients with cancer who have a variety of medical, nursing and psychological needs. C29 is a 15‑bedded Oncology ward based at the Queens Centre.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and inspire the nursing team as ward sister/charge nurse, demonstrating excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Model compassionate end‑of‑life care and maintain high standards of holistic nursing care for cancer patients.
- Take ownership of initiatives to develop, improve, and monitor standards of care, ensuring safety for all patients and staff.
- Hold 24‑hour responsibility for patient safety and safe staffing, including active involvement in recruitment, retention and management of sickness absence.
- Support staff development and ensure the ward’s KPIs are achieved in line with trust compliance levels.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and external agencies to provide seamless and safe discharge, including knowledge of the complex discharge process.
