Specialist Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and motivated Band 6 Specialist Nurse to join our innovative and supportive multidisciplinary team at the Humber Centre
.

Ouse Ward is a 14-bed male inpatient unit providing assessment, treatment and recovery-focused care for patients detained under the Mental Health Act. We are committed to delivering compassionate, person‑centred care within a trauma‑informed model, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of support during their recovery journey.

As a Specialist Nurse, you will play a key leadership role within the multidisciplinary team, using your clinical expertise to deliver exceptional care and improve outcomes for patients with complex mental health needs. You will have the opportunity to influence and shape practice, provide professional and clinical leadership to colleagues, and contribute to the ongoing development of the service.

Working closely with the Ward Manager and wider leadership team, you will support the implementation of clinical and operational policies, lead service improvement initiatives, and help drive positive change across the ward. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced mental health nurse looking to further develop their leadership skills while making a meaningful difference to the lives of people accessing our services.

• Assume a leadership role within the multidisciplinary team using clinical expertise to deliver exceptional care and improve outcomes for patients with complex mental health needs.
• Influence and shape practice, provide professional and clinical leadership to colleagues, and contribute to the ongoing development of the service.
• Implement clinical and operational policies in collaboration with the Ward Manager and leadership team.
• Lead service improvement initiatives and drive positive change across the ward.

• Part III or 13 of NMC live register
• Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation, drivers and their application to clinical and service area, e.g. Mental Capacity Act, Social Inclusion
• Demonstrable experience of mentoring pre‑registration students
• Leadership training/qualification/experience
• Evidence of project work that has impacted on practice and demonstrates a higher level of communication/planning/change that impacts within own area of work/responsibility

• Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area at specialist level of care
• Evidence of development of specialist practice nursing skills and able to demonstrate the impact of this on practice change/development
• Demonstrable experience of working in the specific field where the post is held

• Effective interpersonal skills and experience in supervising and mentoring
• Ability to lead and motivate staff to embrace change
