About the Role

As a Gardener Volunteer, you'll help create and maintain welcoming outdoor spaces that support the health, wellbeing and recovery of the people who access Aquarius services. Your work will ensure our gardens remain safe, attractive and accessible, providing calming environments where individuals, families and young people can connect, learn and take part in activities. Working alongside our teams, you'll assist with the upkeep of garden areas and may have the opportunity to support gardening projects and wellbeing activities with the people who use our services.

This is a rewarding opportunity to share your gardening skills while making a positive difference in your local community.

Key Duties
  • Help maintain and care for gardens and outdoor spaces across Aquarius sites.
  • Prepare and maintain garden areas to ensure they are safe, tidy and welcoming.
  • Support the delivery of gardening activities, projects and seasonal events.
  • Carry out basic gardening tasks such as planting, weeding, pruning and general maintenance.
  • Help ensure gardening tools and equipment are kept clean, safe and in good working order.
  • Encourage a positive, inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone using the garden spaces.
  • Where appropriate, support adults and young people to participate in gardening and outdoor wellbeing activities.
  • Act as a positive ambassador for Aquarius, promoting our values and commitment to recovery and wellbeing.
  • Attend induction, training and supervision sessions to develop your knowledge and volunteering experience.
About You
  • An interest in gardening, with practical gardening knowledge or experience.
  • A friendly, approachable and non-judgemental attitude.
  • Good organisational skills and a reliable approach to volunteering.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and work well as part of a team.
  • An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and maintaining professional boundaries.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, treating everyone with dignity and respect.
  • The confidence to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance and support.
  • A willingness to learn, attend training and contribute positively to the Aquarius team.
