We are looking for a practical, motivated person to join our Field Team in East Yorkshire.
This is a hands-on role supporting the care and management of pigs across our bed-and-breakfast farms, where our farming partners rear pigs on our behalf. Working alongside experienced Fieldsmen, you will learn how to assess pig health and welfare, support farmers with day-to-day husbandry, and monitor how pigs are growing and performing.
The role is fully farm-based, assisting with unloading, counting and vaccinating piglets, carrying out routine husbandry tasks, and selecting and loading pigs for slaughter. You will receive training and support to build your knowledge, practical skills and confidence, with the opportunity to progress towards managing your own group of farms.
What you will do- Visit farms alongside experienced Fieldsmen, building good working relationships with farmers and unit managers.
- Learn to assess pig health, welfare and performance, recognise concerns and report them promptly.
- Assist with checking housing, feed and water provision, cleanliness and biosecurity.
- Assist with unloading, counting and vaccinating piglets, and separating them by sex where required, following training and agreed procedures. Assist with selecting and sorting pigs ready for slaughter.
- Support our transport team with the safe handling, loading and unloading of pigs.
- Help maintain accurate farm visit records.
- Follow animal welfare, health and safety, and biosecurity procedures at all times.
Previous experience working with pigs would be an advantage, but is not essential, as training will be provided. We are looking for someone who is keen to learn, enjoys practical work and takes pride in doing a job well.
You will need:
- An interest in livestock farming and a commitment to good animal welfare.
- A practical approach and willingness to work in a physically active role.
- Reliability, initiative and a strong work ethic.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
- The ability to follow instructions, keep accurate records and organise your work.
- A full driving licence.
- Monday to Friday working pattern.
- A structured Learning and Development Programme, with support from experienced colleagues.
- Opportunities for career progression.
- Company pension.
- 24/7 GP access.
- Access to the Ian Mosey Discount Platform.
- Employee referral programme.
For the right candidate, this role offers a clear route to becoming a Fieldsman and taking responsibility for your own group of farms.
