This is an excellent opportunity for a confident surgeon to join an experienced, supportive team with a high surgical caseload, modern facilities and the clinical freedom to develop their interests.

The Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality surgical care, working closely with an experienced nursing team and supporting the development of younger vets.

Responsibilities and opportunities include:

  • Managing a varied surgical caseload, ideally covering both soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery
  • Helping develop laparoscopic surgery within the practice
  • Sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues working towards surgical and ECC certificates
  • Working collaboratively with experienced nurses to deliver efficient operating lists and excellent patient care
  • Undertaking some consultations, with a friendly and confident approach to client communication

About You

The practice is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is confident in surgery, passionate about patient welfare and keen to contribute to a collaborative team.

A background in both soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery would be ideal. The ability to introduce new ideas, develop clinical standards and support colleagues' professional growth would also be valued.

Why Apply?

  • Salary of £60,000–£85,000, depending on experience
  • High surgical caseload and scope to develop laparoscopic procedures
  • Purpose-built, recently renovated practice
  • Digital X-ray, dental radiography, ultrasound and in-house laboratory facilities
  • Separate dog, cat and isolation wards
  • Experienced veterinary and nursing teams, including certificate holders
  • Generous CPD allowance and support with further qualifications
  • Paid RCVS, VDS and BVA memberships
  • Clinical freedom and a loyal client base
  • Flexible working, with part-time options considered
  • No out-of-hours responsibilities

The ideal full-time pattern is 40 hours per week, with typical operating shifts from 8am to 6pm. There is one late consulting shift per week, from 10am to 8pm, and one weekend commitment per month:
Saturday 9am to 6pm, with part-day consulting, and Sunday 10am to 4pm. Part-time arrangements can be discussed.
