We are seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to join the Wound Innovation Institute at the University of Hull and contribute to an internationally collaborative research programme investigating the role of the skin and wound microbiome in cutaneous leishmaniasis.
Based at the Castle Hill Hospital site, you will work within the Wound Innovation Institute's newly launched state-of-the-art research laboratories, supported by substantial investment in skin and wound research, innovation and infrastructure.
The Institute brings together expertise in wound healing, infection biology, microbiology and translational research, providing a collaborative environment focused on delivering real-world patient benefit through partnership, innovation and interdisciplinary research.
The PDRA will join the research group of Dr Michelle Rudden within the Wound Innovation Institute and work closely with collaborators at the Skin Research Centre, University of York, as well as partners in Brazil and Tunisia.
This externally funded project aims to improve therapeutic approaches for cutaneous leishmaniasis through a better understanding of lesion biology, microbiome dysbiosis and host-microbe interactions.
The PDRA will lead the microbial genomics and microbiome research activities within the project, using long-read sequencing, bacterial genomics and bioinformatic approaches to characterise lesion-associated microbial communities and determine their contribution to disease progression, treatment response and wound healing outcomes.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to work at the interface of microbiology, microbial genomics, infection biology and wound healing within a highly interdisciplinary and internationally connected research environment.
