Volunteer Mentor: Build Skills & Pathways; Training

Overview

Join us as a Volunteer Mentor within our Communities and Education Division. Our Resettlement Support Volunteers help staff deliver positive impact through projects that address the needs of participants, predominantly men over 18 years old. Volunteers assist participants to access vital services, engage with their local community, and develop skills to create healthier relationships and a positive lifestyle change. They act as positive role models, inspiring and guiding participants to action plans and goals.

This is a rewarding role with training, paid expenses, and support from a Volunteer Coordinator. We welcome volunteers from all walks of life who are over 18 and committed to making a difference.

• Spend time with the participant assisting in agreed activities
• Provide practical and emotional support
• Encourage engagement with appointments
• Assist with filling in forms
• Help participants access resources to achieve their goals
• Support public protection by reporting issues related to participant behaviour
• Engage in regular supervision sessions with the Volunteer Coordinator
• Complete feedback notes after each support session within 48 hours; safeguarding to be reported immediately
• Actively promote Seetec’s values within the work conducted with participants
• Adhere to safety procedures using the lone working system
• Volunteer in a non-discriminatory manner and promote diversity and equality; maintain professional boundaries
• Attend team meetings and participate in ongoing training
• Encourage participants’ compliance with probation appointments and licence conditions

• Ability to listen effectively and communicate with others
• Ability to keep commitments and/or appointments
• Ability to use initiative to identify and access relevant resources
• Share information appropriately within boundaries of confidentiality
• Understand and maintain professional boundaries and relationships
• Demonstrate positive behaviour and act as a good role model
• Be non-judgmental, open-minded and self-aware
• Basic IT skills and ability to encourage and enable informed decisions

About the Division is the Justice and Social Care division of Seetec, delivering tailored support across contracts including CFO Activity Hubs, Accommodation, Personal Wellbeing and Approved Premises. Seetec aims to help people build a better future and reintegrate into local communities.
