Software Test Engineer

Salary: £? - ? per year

• Strong software testing experience on embedded software or a physical device, such as mobile devices, smart meters, or handheld/touchscreen products
• Python test automation experience, manual testing experience, or ideally both
• Background in a safety-critical or regulated sector such as medical, automotive, aerospace, defence, finance, or oil and gas
• Understanding of working within a QMS with good record-keeping
• Willingness to work onsite in Motherwell 3 days per week
• Medical device testing experience is desirable
• Some cybersecurity testing exposure is desirable
• Familiarity with test management tools such as Jama, Codebeamer, Test Link, HP ALM, or DOORS is desirable

• Carry out hands‑on software testing across both Python test automation and manual testing
• Write automated tests in Python where possible
• Perform manual testing when automation is not possible, including GUI testing directly on the device
• Work within a regulated medical environment
• Maintain good test records and follow QMS processes
• Adapt the balance of automation and manual test work around our strengths

We are recruiting a Software Test Engineer for our client developing a market‑leading medical device at our Motherwell site. This is a 6‑month initial contract, likely to extend, offering up to £68 per hour inside IR35. The role is onsite in Motherwell three days per week, with flexibility on how those days are arranged, and the interview process is a quick one‑stage process.
