Overview

Memorial Hermann Medical Group, a large physician‑employed network, is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Hospitalist to join the group at our Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital.

Job Description
  • Attend and actively participate in hospital multidisciplinary rounds on all patients where the hospitalist service is primary or co‑management.
  • Cover Code Blue and Rapid Responses per campus code committee recommendations.
  • Provide admission services for the Emergency Department, incoming transfer patients, and direct or emergent admissions following the on‑call schedule.
  • Provide co‑management services for subspecialty services within the scope and privilege designation.
  • Provide consultative services for Medical Staff members as needed.
  • Accept transfers of care from other clinical service lines when appropriate, ensuring physician‑to‑physician hand‑off communication.
  • Provide transfer center call for incoming non‑critical care medical patients per the on‑call schedule.
  • Provide timely evaluation of patients admitted to the hospital per Medical Executive Committee bylaws.
  • Abide by Hospital tenants, guidelines, and bylaws.
  • Provide physician‑to‑physician sign‑out for patients transitioning to post‑acute facilities.
  • Provide internal sign‑out at transitions of care consistent with standards of care.
  • Provide 72‑hour narcotic prescriptions for patients transitioning to skilled nursing facilities when clinically appropriate.
  • Participate in nursing and staff education when solicited by CNO, CMO, or COO.
  • Respond to clinical queries in a timely fashion.
  • Document History and Physicals within 12 hours.
  • Document Discharge Summaries within 48 hours of discharge order.
  • Maintain current understanding of the regulatory environment related to status patients per national guidelines.
  • Provide post‑discharge coverage for appropriate home health orders up to 2 weeks or until primary care physicians are seen.
  • Encourage in‑network utilization of resources for continuity of care unless specified by the patient or unavailable.
  • Respond promptly to pages and nurse callbacks unless patient safety or experience is impacted.
  • Provide additional coverage during emergencies or disasters per campus protocol.
  • Participate in continuing education activities to maintain or enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Maintain ACLS certification.
  • Direct patient care throughout the health care system via Consult Orders.
  • Provide consultation services with attending or primary care providers.
  • Communicate with the attending physician, nurses, families, and other team members to obtain an appropriate care plan.
  • Effectively communicate with the treatment team in a timely and professional manner to provide quality psychiatric care (where applicable).
  • Comply with best practices and other care directives.
  • Follow Performance Improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Memorial Hermann Physicians, Risk Managers, and Case Managers to resolve clinical, administrative, or technical problems.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to MH compliance privacy policies.
  • Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards, including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting mandatory/continuing education and competency requirements; serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrate commitment to caring for every member of the community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences.
  • Model Memorial Hermann service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
