Endoscopy Technician PRN

Townsen Memorial is hiring a PRN Endoscopy Technician for our Humble, TX location.

SUMMARY

The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for scrubbing and assisting the physician for all cases. After each case, the technician will be on standby for sterile technician needs, including decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization, and sterile storage, while adhering to department policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Identify and follow manufacturers’ instructions to sort, disassemble, decontaminate, rinse, and disinfect instrumentation, flexible scopes, and equipment.
  • Facilitate room turnovers, troubleshoot problems, and perform repairs.
  • Identify and inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionality.
  • Review instrumentation needs with management.
  • Assemble and prepare instrumentation for sterilization.
  • Select appropriate sterilization methods and follow manufacturers’ recommendations.
  • Utilize count sheets consistently to correctly assemble, protect, wrap, containerize, and/or peel‑pack and label instrumentation.
  • Document and verify sterilization loads and biological test results to determine efficacy.
  • Handle sterile products properly and ensure stock is placed in the proper location.
  • Maintain inventory and stock operating par levels for stored instrumentation and emergency carts.
  • Deliver instrumentation to operating room as needed.
  • Make rounds consistently through operating rooms and confirm instrumentation needs are met.
  • Prepare carts from pick list and work with specialty surgical instrumentation.
  • Adhere to proper handling of garbage, linen, and biohazardous materials, maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
  • Provide guidance and training to other staff as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the hospital.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong knowledge of sterile technique related to operating room preparation and procedures.
  • Proficiency in medical and surgical technology.
  • Knowledge of operating equipment and supplies.
  • Leadership skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Formal training as Endoscopy Technician or
  • One (1) year of clinical experience as an Endoscopy Technician in lieu of formal training.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
