Overview

Texas Oncology is looking for a Certified IV Admixture Technician to join our team! This position will support the Humble
, Texas location. This is a full‑time Monday‑Friday 8a‑5p role with no weekends or major holidays. The position will be either a Level I, Level II, or Senior based on candidate experience.

What

does the Pharmacy/Admixture Technician do?

The Pharmacy Admixture Technician, under the direct supervision of a physician or registered pharmacist, performs technical, non‑judgmental aspects of medication preparation, distribution, record keeping, and inventory control. Tasks are subject to sequential or final verification by a registered nurse or pharmacist.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Checks all orders for completeness of information.
  • Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization.
  • Checks all orders for insurance approval before admixing.
  • Under a professional’s supervision, admixtures drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner as per department guidelines.
  • Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
  • Counts controlled drugs weekly and maintains records.
  • Cleans hood daily as stated in policy and procedures.
  • Checks drugs monthly for outdates and keeps accurate temperature logs.
  • Maintains proper control documentation of medications, including lot numbers and all other quality assurance activities.
  • Complete inventory control of medications, order supplies, receive and shelve medications, and ensure standard drug supplies are adequate in all departments.
  • Prepares labels, files and prepares billing.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience:

Level I
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Entry level to three (3) years experience in a pharmacy.
  • IV Certification strongly preferred.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board requirement recommended.
Level II (in addition to Level I requirements)
  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years experience in a pharmacy with I.V. skills.
Level Senior (in addition to Level I and II requirements)
  • Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in a pharmacy with I.V. skills.
  • Oncology background preferred or extensive I.V. preparation experience.
  • Completion of an AS C P accredited program or community college‑based program recommended.
