Certified IV Admixture Technician - Humble, Tx

Overview

Texas Oncology is looking for a Certified IV Admixture Technician to join our team in Humble, Texas. This full‑time position (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.) is available at different competency levels—Level I, Level II, or Senior—based on experience.

• Prepare medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Check orders for completeness of information, patient data, physician authorization, and insurance approval.
• Admix drugs as ordered by a physician in an accurate and timely manner following department and OSHA guidelines.
• Calculate correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
• Count controlled drugs weekly, maintain records, and ensure proper disposal of materials used when mixing chemotherapy or non‑chemotherapy IVs.
• Clean the compounding hood daily, log temperature and drug usage, and maintain out‑of‑date checks.
• Maintain proper control documentation of medications, including lot numbers and quality assurance activities.
• Complete inventory control, order supplies and medications, receive and shelve medications, and ensure adequate drug supplies.
• Prepare labels, file documents, and assist with billing.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0–3 years experience in a pharmacy.
• IV certification strongly preferred.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or state pharmacy board requirement recommended.

• Minimum 3–5 years experience in a pharmacy with IV skills.

• Minimum 5–7 years experience in a pharmacy with IV skills.
• Oncology background preferred or extensive IV preparation experience.
• Completion of an AS‑C Pad accredited program or community‑college‑based program recommended.

• Technical and functional expertise in pharmacy compounding and IV preparation.

Full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, and the ability to read and note measurements are required. The role may involve sitting/standing for extended periods and occasionally lifting or carrying items up to 40 lb. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
