About the Role:

* CNA/Transportation Driver
- Schedule may vary with appointments. BLS Certification, Current Driver's License, Good Driving Record required.

The Transportation Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) at Deerbrook plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient transport of patients within and outside the facility. This position requires a compassionate and attentive professional who supports patient mobility while maintaining high standards of care and safety. The CNA will collaborate closely with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to facilitate timely and comfortable patient transfers to various departments, appointments, or external medical facilities.

By providing direct assistance during transportation, the CNA helps enhance patient experience and contributes to the overall quality of care. This role demands a strong commitment to patient dignity, safety protocols, and effective communication to meet the diverse needs of our residents and patients.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in accordance with state regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license if transportation duties include driving facility vehicles.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely assist patients with mobility and transfers.
  • Basic knowledge of patient care and safety standards within a healthcare environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a rehabilitation or nursing center setting.
  • Additional training or certification in patient handling and transfer techniques.
  • Familiarity with emergency response procedures and first aid.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage transportation schedules efficiently.
  • Bilingual abilities to support diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities:
  • Safely transport patients to and from different areas within the facility, including therapy, diagnostic, and treatment departments.
  • Assist patients with mobility challenges during transfers, ensuring comfort and preventing injury.
  • Coordinate with nursing and medical staff to schedule and prioritize patient transportation needs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of transportation equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, and lifts.
  • Document transportation activities accurately and report any incidents or patient concerns to supervisory staff.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control, safety protocols, and patient confidentiality guidelines during all transportation activities.
  • Provide compassionate support and reassurance to patients during transport, addressing any immediate needs or discomfort.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Transportation CNA utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to interact compassionately with patients and collaborate effectively with healthcare staff. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential to prevent accidents and ensure patient well‑being during transfers.
