About Our Atascocita Location (Harris County)
Gateway's largest facility, Atascocita is a residential correctional center focused solely on substance use treatment for court‑ordered clients. With 12 buildings and nearly 500 clients, the facility provides a structured, secure environment without armed guards. Staff work collaboratively in a team of 170, including counselors, probation officers, and support staff. The location is undergoing major renovations to become a state‑of‑the‑art treatment center.

We foster a supportive culture with team‑building activities, recognition programs, and a strong mission‑driven focus on recovery and rehabilitation.

LVN (PRN) Responsibilities
  • Conducts comprehensive nursing assessment of clients' medical needs, confers with clinical team members to develop care plans, and implements plans and case management to address identified needs.
  • Performs triage, and routine or complex treatments.
  • Serves as member of treatment team by reporting client observations and evaluations of medical problems.
  • Administers prescribed medications.
  • Conducts educational classes and seminars for clients and staff concerning health, medical issues, infection control and so forth.
  • Maintains required client charts, documents and records related to assessment, diagnoses, and treatments.
  • Assists physicians in conducting examinations and treatments.
Job Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Nursing
  • Two years related experience in a social service environment. Concurrent experience with relevant client population preferred.
  • Current State license as a Vocational Nurse
  • Working knowledge of the principles of physical growth and development and psychosocial development to assess and interpret client data and identify individual needs and provide health‑related care appropriate to the developmental stage and client population.
  • Ability to manage client health care activities, and work independently in developing and implementing appropriate responses to identified medical needs.
  • Strong analytical skills necessary to evaluate medical needs, implement and document nursing care plans, and develop solutions to difficult problems concerning clients' mental or physical well‑being.
  • Strong communication skills to obtain assessment information, instruct clients and elicit their cooperation in managing their care, conduct educational classes, and maintain effective working relationships and contacts with other employees and health care professionals.
