Job SummaryThe Gas Foreman leads the crew to complete daily tasks related to the installation and repair of natural gas pipelines and/or joint trench utilities for power and telephone in a safe and correct manner. The role oversees crew safety and productivity, installs and pressure‑tests both mainline and service line gas pipe, and completes routine safety inspections and documentation. The Foreman coordinates with customers, senior management, and other departments.
Responsibilities- Oversee and coordinate crew work to install natural gas pipelines via open‑cut or directional drill methods.
- Obtain all necessary licenses, permits, and materials for each job.
- Ensure all work quality meets project standards and timelines.
- Delegate daily tasks related to digging and placing product.
- Gain entry to site buildings and call‑in utilities at each project site.
- Facilitate toolbox talks and safety inspections to ensure compliance.
- Complete all paperwork promptly.
- Train new hires and trainees in the trade.
- Track employee hours and submit payroll data on time.
- Call in utilities at each job site.
- Inspect existing utilities to ensure correct installation, fusion, and customer specifications.
- Drive, haul, or operate equipment to assist crews.
- Maintain job progress, clean up, and perform job restoration.
- Communicate with customers and inspectors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of gas pipeline construction or maintenance experience, including 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Proficiency in fusing, tapping, pressure testing, and purging.
- CDL Class A license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Knowledge of gas safety and how to work with it.
- Ability to read and interpret specifications and prints.
- Proficiency in all phases of line construction.
- Compliance with safety standards and procedures as required by Mas Tec or higher‑level client standards.
- Strong customer service communication skills.
- Experience operating heavy equipment and general construction.
- Visual inspection skills for fusion or welded joints, utility identification, and color marking.
- Vision clarity at 20 ft or more or 20 in or less with accurate distance judgment.
- Precise hand‑eye coordination.
- Color discrimination ability.
- Capability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
Previous experience with Atmos Gas is preferred.
Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a field environment requiring extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and twisting. Work is performed in inclement weather, including extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The Foreman must handle lifting tasks up to 50 lb and maintain vision, hand‑eye coordination, and color discrimination as outlined in the qualifications.
