Capital Area Head Start is seeking a full time Child and Family Development Specialist to join our mission of making a difference in the lives of children, empowering parents, and strengthening families.
The Child and Family Development Specialist position works across various departments to support the evaluation and enrollment of children into services in consideration of individual needs, including behavioral and special service. This position conducts observations, provides resources and guidance to families, and works to support transitioning children into preschool by identifying services to promote children’s success in the classroom.
Position Details/Benefits:- $19.82 per hour, may increase based on education and experience

- Associate’s degree in early childhood education, special education, psychology or highly related field
- Two years of experience working with young children (ages three to five) in a classroom setting, home visiting, behavioral health, special services and/or other highly related setting
- Knowledge of social-emotional development, community resources, and developmental milestones
- Intermediate computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel Outlook and learn web based systems
- Valid driver’s license and access to properly insured vehicle, or public transportation
- Successful completion of pre-employment process, including Criminal History, MVR, Child Abuse and FBI clearances
- Participation in Head Start or Early Head Start, preferred
