Position SummaryPratt Miller is looking for a NASCAR Track Support Engineer to join its Competition Engineering Department. The engineering role will serve as a key team‑support position, providing race engineering, software tool support, reporting, simulation, and general engineering assistance to the Kaulig Racing NASCAR Cup program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Internal Group Support- Define, develop, and oversee the execution of projects that drive process improvement, team effectiveness, and vehicle performance.
- Manage collaboration between engineering teams to drive toward deliverables.
- Define project scope, requirements, and success criteria in alignment with program and performance goals.
- Direct timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to deliver projects on schedule and within constraints.
- Provide group‑level guidance in vehicle model simulation development and correlation.
- Oversee rig, simulation, and track testing with respect to project deliverables and output.
- Provide guidance and feedback in the development of internal toolsets and processes.
- Act as the main point of contact for Pratt Miller tools and engineering support.
- Support the team through use of internal documentation, tool sets, and knowledge base.
- Pre‑event support and shop‑based preparation:
- Generate and distribute pre‑event report documentation.
- Participate in pre‑event meetings.
- Perform pre‑event strategy analysis.
- Perform pre‑event simulation work and setup optimization.
- Support any DiL or static simulation sessions.
- At‑event support:
- Assist in vehicle setup tracking.
- Perform simulation and correlation work as needed.
- Assist in race strategy planning and execution.
- Support the use of Pratt Miller tools by the team.
- Post event support and performance improvement:
- Document and report performance and operational issues and opportunities.
- Participate in team event debrief meetings.
- Organize meetings to review information with Pratt Miller team and advance tools, processes, and technology.
This role will interface heavily with our team. Overall communication and interaction are expected to be handled in a collaborative manner for overall improvement of performance and execution.
Required Knowledge and Skills- BS in engineering or other advanced technical background.
- Background in motor sport with 5–7 years of experience, including trackside.
- Background in vehicle dynamics and controls engineering.
- Group or project management experience.
- General engineering background covered by duties outlined above.
- Knowledge of vehicle dynamics.
- Knowledge of race strategy.
- Familiar with data acquisition systems – preferably motor sport based.
- Experience in general data review and processing.
- Python.
- Matlab.
- Excel.
- Data acquisition systems such as Motec or PI Toolbox.
- Stress may occur periodically.
- Long hours may be required at times.
- Travel required, varying on support needs (total travel commitments can range from 50 to 150 days a year).
- Work environment can vary between group and individual assignments and tasks.
- Ability to travel outside of continental US with no restrictions.
$82,000.00 – $. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined by factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate experience, education and skills, and equity among team members.
