Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer
Summary
At Bürkert, a world leader in fluid control systems, the Advanced Manufacturing Engineer plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our production processes. This position is for an experienced, innovative engineering professional who thrives on complex challenges and a passion for optimizing the creation of high‑precision fluidic components. It is a strategic role that extends beyond traditional manufacturing support to drive continuous improvement, lead new technology adoption, and ensure Burkert maintains its competitive edge through best‑in‑class manufacturing practices.
The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with a proactive, collaborative approach to problem‑solving, bridging design and production to enable seamless and efficient implementation of cutting‑edge fluid control solutions for demanding target industries such as lab and medical technologies, emerging industries, pharmaceutical and biotechnology, and food and beverage.
- Manufacturing process innovation: Lead the research, evaluation, and implementation of new manufacturing technologies, such as advanced automation, robotics, injection molding, ASME BPE welding, and integrated fluid delivery systems, to enhance manufacturing capabilities and product quality.
- Precision CNC Machining: Expert in programming, set‑ups, and troubleshooting multi‑axis CNC machines is critical. Drive the most advanced machining methods by working with our global team to increase FPY, OEE, and POR. Lead and drive our rapid prototyping initiatives to develop new solutions for our core industries base utilizing all equipment available.
- DFM and process optimization: Work closely with the design and quality teams during the new product development cycle to ensure manufacturability and high‑quality standards from the outset. This includes critical design reviews and the development of robust manufacturing processes for complex fluidic systems.
- Continuous improvement leadership: Champion and implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives across production lines. Analyze existing processes to identify and eliminate non‑value‑added activities, leading to significant improvements in efficiency, yield, and cost reduction.
- Project management: Lead complex, cross‑functional projects related to new equipment installation, process validation, and plant layout optimization. Manage all project phases from scope definition and resource allocation to execution and performance tracking.
- Technical analysis and troubleshooting: Serve as the top‑level technical resource for complex production issues. Utilize strong analytical skills to perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve quality.
- Quality systems integration: Collaborate with the quality assurance and metrology teams to design and implement advanced testing methods and in‑process quality verifications. Ensure all manufacturing processes adhere to stringent industry and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or a related Engineering discipline is required. A Master's degree or advanced certification (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Black Belt) is preferred.
- Experience: Experience with Siemens NX CAD / CAM and Janus is a plus. A minimum of 5‑7 years of progressively responsible experience in a high‑volume, high‑precision manufacturing production environment, preferably within the fluid control, medical device, or semiconductor industries.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Solid Works, Siemens NX, Vericut).
- A deep understanding of GD&T.
- Strong knowledge of various manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, injection molding, welding, and complex assemblies.
- Proficiency in process validation, including IQ, OQ, and PQ.
- Other Requirements:
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams and mentor junior engineers.
- Superior problem‑solving, critical thinking, and analytical abilities.
- Proven track record of managing complex projects and driving change in a dynamic environment.
- A creative and resourceful mindset with a strong drive for continuous improvement.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as required.
