Honorary Treasurer 2025 – Volunteer – Ramsey Rural Museum
The trustees of Ramsey Rural Museum are recruiting for an essential voluntary role to oversee, monitor and report on the Charity's finances to the Board. As a volunteer run charity this is a great opportunity to make a difference.
What difference will you make?This essential role has a crucial part to play in the overall governance and management of the Museum. At an exciting time as the Museum embarks on a new Development Strategy, we need a dedicated Treasurer to transform strategy into reality. The current Hon. Treasurer is nearing the end of their term and a smooth handover is desired.
What are we looking for?- Experience of accountancy, bookkeeping or similar financial responsibility
- Core understanding of a charity’s financial responsibilities
- Competent IT skills
- Ability to effectively communicate and explain financial information to members of the board and other stakeholders
- Ability to supervise other volunteers for financial tasks
- Willingness to get involved and be part of the Museum’s active team of volunteers
- Willingness to improve skills and knowledge and keep up to date with new legislation and requirements of charity accounting
- Eligible to be a trustee according to legal requirements for Trustees
- References will be required. Further checks may be required due to the nature of the role
- Ensure the charity is carrying out its purposes to the public benefit, providing general financial oversight and direction to the Board of Trustees, enabling Trustees to fulfil their responsibilities for overall financial planning, budgeting and strategic direction of the museum.
- Comply with the museum’s governing document and legal and charity commission regulations. Responsible for making accounts official with finance professionals as appropriate.
- Act in the charity’s best interests and manage the charity’s resources responsibly – oversee monitoring of museum finances on behalf of the Board, reporting regularly to the Board.
