Buyer, Supply Chain​/Logistics

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a leading design and manufacturer of electronic equipment and instruments as a Buyer. Based in Huntingdon on a 4 day Mon-Thurs working week.

This key position sits within an established purchasing team and is to support the sourcing and supply of electronic components as per production requirements.

The successful candidate must have experience purchasing electronic components with the supply chain globally based.

Key responsibilities of the Buyer

Source components based on forecast and average usage data
Issue RFQs and collate responses
Order through franchised distribution to lead time
Order from alternative sources to fill any gaps
Obtain acknowledgements and file appropriately
Report regularly on progress
Engage with New Projects and attend NPI meetings where required
Deputise for the Purchasing Manager where required
Support Quality Manager in resolving supplier quality issues

Skills and experience required of the Buyer

Experience of a dynamic electronics manufacturing environment

Experience of buying electronic components

Experience of using MRP/ERP systems
Excellent communication skills
Commercially astute
Strong negotiation skills

This position would suit someone with experience in procurement, purchasing or supply chain as a Junior Buyer, Buyer, Senior Buyer, purchasing specialist, category manager or commodity manager
