East of England Community Health and Care NHS Trust is seeking passionate individuals to undertake the BSc (Hons) Specialist Community Nursing Programme.
This exciting development opportunity will enable you to gain the knowledge, skills and professional attributes required to become a Specialist Community Nurse within community services.
Working closely with the Higher Education Institute, Practice Supervisor, Practice Assessor and Professional Lead, you will undertake a structured programme of academic and clinical learning.
Throughout your training you will develop the expertise required to deliver safe, effective, evidence-based care and support individuals, families and communities.

Main duties of the job

• Attend all university teaching sessions and successfully complete academic assignments and assessments.
• Work alongside experienced Specialist Community Nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team in community settings.
• Develop and demonstrate the ability to apply theoretical learning to clinical practice.
• Work with your Practice Assessor to develop and achieve agreed learning objectives.
• Identify your own learning and development needs and actively seek opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills.
• Participate in regular clinical supervision and reflective practice.
• Maintain high standards of professional conduct in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code.
• Contribute to quality improvement, audit and research activities within community services.
• Support the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care while developing specialist clinical and leadership skills.

Job responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities

• Attend all required university learning sessions and complete coursework, assignments and assessments within agreed time frames.
• Maintain regular communication with your Practice Assessor and participate in the development of a clinical learning programme that supports academic and practice learning.
• Demonstrate the integration of prior nursing knowledge and experience into specialist community nursing practice.
• Work towards achieving all programme competencies and learning outcomes.
• Develop new clinical and professional skills through supervised practice and reflective learning.
• Identify and raise any concerns regarding academic or clinical progress at the earliest opportunity.
• Take responsibility for identifying personal and professional development needs.

Professional Responsibilities

• Adhere to the NMC Code and all professional standards of practice.
• Maintain patient, family and staff confidentiality in accordance with Caldicott Principles and information governance requirements.
• Follow Trust and university procedures for reporting sickness or absence.
• Submit expenses claims in a timely manner where applicable.
• Participate in regular clinical supervision and learning reviews.

Research and Quality Improvement

• Participate in research, audit, service evaluation and quality improvement activities as appropriate.
• Apply evidence-based practice principles within clinical learning environments.

Governance and Compliance

• Maintain professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council throughout the training programme.
• Comply with Trust policies relating to risk management, safeguarding, infection prevention and control, information governance and health and safety.
• Participate in mandatory training and any additional role‑specific development programmes.
• Engage in clinical and management supervision.
• Support relevant emergency preparedness and business continuity arrangements.
