SCBU Deputy Sister ​/ Charge Nurse

Are you a motivated, enthusiastic and ambitious Neonatal Nurse? Then we would love to hear from you. We are the Special Care Baby Unit based at Hinchingbrooke Hospital. Our Neonatal unit provides 1x intensive care cot, 1x High dependency cot and 8 special care cots, along side a neonatal outreach service. The unit currently provides short term intensive care, high dependency care and special care.

Our team is highly skilled and knowledgeable professionals, who are passionate about delivering a provision of high quality service to babies and their families.

• Registered Nurse Adult or Child
• Qualified in Speciality (Neonates), ENB 405 or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years post registration experience on a neonatal unit at Band 5
• Evidence of Neonatal Advanced Life support training
• Evidence of Standard of Student Supervision & Assessment training
• Experience of supporting and teaching junior colleagues

• Participation in a leadership programme e.g. Edward Jenner / Mary Seacole
• ENB 997/8 or relevant teaching qualification

• Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of nursing within this clinical area
• Knowledge of NMC Codes of Conduct and/or guidance of professional practice
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of child protection issues.

• Good written presentation skills and maintenance of accurate records
• Effectively prioritises and coordinates own work and that of others
• Shows good leadership qualities - ability to assess situations, problem solve, identify solutions, support and challenge
• Demonstrates understanding of safeguarding issues
• Appreciates the significance of safeguarding and interprets this accurately for all individual

• Willingness to actively participate in mechanisms to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team through audit.

• Experience of mentoring students and junior members of staff
