Student employment provides an opportunity to earn money while continuing your education, train with people who manage the day-to-day operations of the institution you attend, and combine academic study with on-the-job experience. Employment opportunities are with the Coast Community College District. Opportunities can range from summer jobs to positions that last through your time as a student. Roles within the program may relate to your academic field of study or be unrelated.

- CalWORKs Work-Study Student Assistant
A student assistant works in a department of the college or district site with job responsibilities designed for a student as non-classified work. Duties may range from unskilled to skilled and can include manual tasks, clerical work, and public contact. The nature of the job may vary by department. Assignments have limited discretion and judgment and are regularly reviewed. Work is scheduled around class timetables and exams and is generally more flexible than off-campus jobs.
Student assistants may choose assignments aligned with their academic and career goals where available.
Specific duties are defined by the appropriate Division and/or Department. Considerable on-the-job training may occur.
Student Assistant Levels- Student Assistant I: Little or no prior experience or education required
- Student Assistant II: Some previous knowledge, experience, or education required
- Student Assistant III: Prior experience, education, or specialized skills required
- Skills required to perform job assignments.
- Depending on the level and assignment, jobs may require limited independent judgment and decision-making.
- Ability to balance work and studies.
