AI Engineer (Applied/Software)
About the Role
Clutch is building a portfolio of AI agents for credit unions - collections (Emma, already sold and live with multiple credit unions), plus new agents in origination, fraud, engagement, and activation. This role owns one of those agents end to end: discovery with members and credit union executives, the first implementations, and the roadmap that follows.
This is not a traditional product management role. You will spend a large share of your time in front of customers - often on site - shaping products that don’t fully exist yet, then staying with them through the first implementations until they actually work in production. The next year is deliberately an experimentation year: listening, prototyping, and learning what credit unions will really adopt.
You will also help decide where each agent lands. Our largest partners will eventually run several agents, each with a different internal owner (a VP of Collections buys very differently than a VP of Lending). Part of the job is judging which agent goes live with which credit union, in what sequence, in collaboration with the other AI PMs - rather than pushing your own agent into every account.
Aboutthe Team
You’ll join a small, senior AI product group inside Clutch that operates like a seed stage startup within the company, working shoulder to shoulder with a dedicated AI engineering team and a growing bench of AI engineers.
The team is unusually close to the commercial side. You’ll have a commercial counterpart with more influence on your roadmap than a PM is typically used to, because the way we land and expand these agents is still being invented. You’ll also work alongside AI Ops Managers, who take an agent to scale once it is defined and live with the first one or two customers.
It is a high-ownership, low-process environment: strongly opinionated people, fast decisions, and a lot of ambiguity that you are expected to resolve rather than escal.
What You’ll DoWithin 1 month, you will:
- Ramp on the agent portfolio and on the credit unions that matter most over the next six months
- Rapidly prototype and live trial different agents and use cases.
- Take ownership of one agent and its roadmap, and build a working relationship with your engineering and commercial counterparts
- Join customer conversations and go to atleast 2 on-site visits, and start forming your own view of the customer and the product
- Meet the internal buyers’ counterparts at our largest partners and understand who owns what inside a credit union
Within 3 months, you will:
- Own discovery for your agent: run customer sessions on site, and turn what you hear into a sequenced roadmap with clear business outcomes. Goal is to ship an agent every 4-6 weeks in production
- Ship the first version of the integrations your agent depends on (core, loan origination system, CRM), designed to be reused rather than rebuilt per customer
- Drive at least one net-new product go-live, making key decisions and clarifications that unblock it
- Work with the other AI PMs to decide which credit unions your agent should launch with, and which should wait
Within 6 months, you will:
- Have your agent live with multiple credit unions, with data you can show partners to prove it is working
- Expand the business outcomes your agent is accountable for, beyond the initial use case
- Hand scaled rollout to AI Ops with documentation and a repeatable integration pattern, while you keep the product roadmap
- Be trusted to walk into a partner executive conversation alongside commercial counterparts and come out with a decision
In rough priority order:
- Product sense above all. You have strong product judgement, taste and customer intuition
- B2B product experience. You have directly managed enterprise customers,…
