Position: Lead Java Software Architect with Agentic AI

Lead Software Architect, Agentic Engineer Java & Distributed Systems

Location: Remote (US)

Corp to Corp role

Info Magnus is looking for a hands‑on technical lead and software architect to help a global aerospace leader modernize the ground systems that prepare and deliver very large data files to aircraft. The work spans existing production systems and new components, with files of tens of gigabytes and demanding requirements for integrity, recovery, and performance.

You’ll shape the end‑to‑end design with the customer’s engineers, prototype the hardest parts yourself, and guide our engineering team in India. You’ll also help the team use AI‑assisted development responsibly and show what it actually improves.

What you’ll do
  • Turn incomplete requirements into a buildable architecture: clear system boundaries, versioned interface contracts, documented decisions, and measurable performance and reliability targets.
  • Take on the hardest technical problems yourself: prototypes and critical code reviews for streaming, chunking and reassembly, restart and recovery, concurrency, and cryptographic signing and integrity checks.
  • Be the customer’s technical counterpart: work with product, architecture, platform, security, and quality owners; lay out options and trade-offs; and bring the evidence they need to decide.
  • Partner with our India engineering lead: set technical direction, review criteria, and clear handoffs; pair on high‑risk changes; keep a shared decision log; and unblock engineers.
  • Make quality measurable: define the test and evidence strategy, operational readiness, and release dependencies across components.
  • Lead responsible AI adoption: use Git Hub Copilot across design, code, tests, and documentation with rigorous human review, and measure real gains, including review and rework time.
What you bring
  • Hands‑on experience orchestrating quality output from agentic coding assistants such as Git Hub Copilot, and corresponding experience establishing guardrails and verification frameworks to ensure what agents produce is accurate, safe, and secure.
  • Must have business level English speaking skills to interface with clients
  • Must have your own company and ein number
  • Architect-level ownership of production backend systems that you designed and helped ship, and you still write code.
  • Deep, recent experience with Java and Spring Boot, REST APIs, and Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Strong command of streaming I/O, concurrency, and large-file handling, plus the profiling skills (CPU, memory, disk, and network) to find real bottlenecks.
  • Distributed‑systems judgment: idempotency, failure recovery, integrity and authenticity checks, diagnostics, and nonfunctional budgets.
  • Experience extending and upgrading long‑lived systems safely (dependencies, regression risk, and release controls) as well as designing new components.
  • A track record of leading customer technical discussions and guiding engineering teams in other time zones through written decisions and clear handoffs.
Nice to have
  • Aerospace or comparable regulated delivery (for example, medical devices, rail, or automotive), including traceable requirements, design reviews, change‑impact analysis, and evidence for independent QA and security review.
  • Familiarity with aerospace data and software standards such as RTCA DO‑200, ARINC 665, DO‑330, or DO‑178C.
  • Enough C++ experience to review integration points with native components.
  • Security‑minded engineering: threat modeling, secure dependency upgrades, and working alongside cybersecurity reviewers.
  • Comfort in both modern and long‑established tool chains (for example, Git and SVN, or Jenkins and similar CI/CD tools).
