Civil Engineer (Estimator)

Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer (Estimator) to join their team in Walnut, CA. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in civil construction with a background in estimating for infrastructure and utility projects. Experience in tunneling is preferred but not required.

This position will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates and quantity take-offs related to near-surface concrete structures, underground utilities, and excavation support systems for tunneling projects. The role requires expertise in preconstruction planning, technical analysis, and understanding of large-scale projects.

• Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimates for civil infrastructure and tunneling-related sub-surface work
• Analyze drawings, specifications, contracts and other documentation to develop accurate cost projections
• Estimate materials, labor, and equipment costs for concrete structures, corrosion control systems, and temporary sewer bypass/tie-ins
• Familiar with various forms of support of excavation (soldier piles, shoring systems, d-walls, secant walls)
• Familiar with Traffic Control
• Collaborate with the Lead Estimator and project teams to develop bid strategies and solutions
• Prepare and manage project budgets and schedules
• Ensure the accuracy of all estimates and assist in preparing proposals and bid documents
• Attend site visits as needed to assess project conditions and verify assumptions

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• 10+ years of relevant estimating experience in civil construction (tunneling a plus)
• Proficiency in HCSS or similar estimating software, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam
• Deep understanding of near-surface utilities (sewer, water), excavation support, and reinforced concrete structures
• Familiarity with traffic control plans and temporary sewer systems
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to travel occasionally as needed
• U.S. work authorization required

• Salary range: $84,900 – $140,140 (based on experience)
• Performance-based bonus opportunity
• 3 weeks of PTO
