The Analyst II will play a key role in supporting SIU’s Student Information System (SIS) by researching and resolving issues reported by campus administrative offices, collaborating with development teams and software support to meet business objectives. This position is responsible for performing unit and regression testing on new and existing applications, providing training and documentation during implementations, and working closely with project coordinators, IT, and business offices to design efficient technological solutions.

The Analyst II ensures consistent practices to maintain system integrity and supports other duties as assigned, contributing to the reliability and effectiveness of SIS in meeting university needs.

Examples of Duties
  • (30%) Researches problems reported by the campus administrative offices and identifies solutions. Works closely with the development team and software support as required to meet the business objectives.
  • (25%) Performs unit and/or regression testing of new and/or existing applications and solutions.
  • (25%) Provides training and documentation to business offices during implementation of new applications and/or solutions.
  • (10%) Collaborates with Project Coordinators, Information Technology, and business offices to design technological solutions that efficiently and effectively support the University’s business objectives.
  • (5%) Ensures that consistent practices are followed to maintain the integrity of the system.
  • (5%) Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) of:
      • College coursework in Information Systems Technologies (IST), Information Technology (IT), Computer Science (CS), Programming, IT Management, or business-related discipline, including coursework in application development, programming, or database technologies; or
      • Work experience in application development, application support, or business analysis (concurrent with the qualifications above).
    • Must possess 6 months or more of experience in SQL (Oracle, Microsoft, Sybase, and/or MySQL).
    • Must possess knowledge of SQL Database Administration, application development, or ERP configuration (Banner, EBS, Colleague, People Soft, SAP, Workday, Jenzabar, etc.).

    Illinois Residency Requirement:
    Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.
