Job Description Summary

The Violence Prevention and Response Program (VPRP) is dedicated to creating and maintaining a safe and respectful campus environment by leading comprehensive and collaborative prevention initiatives, fostering a culture of community responsibility, and offering advocacy and support services to students affected by sexual or interpersonal violence.

Our program is seeking a graduate assistant interested in training students to lead various prevention initiatives, promote community responsibility, and support victims of sexual and interpersonal violence.

As a graduate assistant, you would assist the program coordinator in training students in the peer education program, which includes a 30-hour course over two semesters. You should expect to be present for all 30 hours of training.

This role involves working collaboratively with the Women’s & Gender Center, Wellness Center, Title IX, and other campus and community resources. You should be comfortable developing and facilitating in-person and virtual educational programming and enjoy working in a student-focused team environment. Students are expected to work 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with triaging students’ needs and connecting them with resources.
  • Facilitate in-person and virtual training sessions for peer educators.
  • Assist in promoting the peer education program.
  • Provide presentations and activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrolled as full-time graduate students in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related fields.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect privacy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent decision-making and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and social media platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Students pursuing degrees in Social Work or related fields preferred.
  • Prior experience in public speaking, presentations, or advocacy training is a plus.
