Overview:
The GA for Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) supports the planning, advising, and evaluating leadership development, chapter accountability, and community programming for Marshall’s fraternity and sorority community. Provides support to various areas reporting to the Assistant Dean of Student Life.
Primary Responsibilities (75%)
Reports to the Assistant Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life
Advise one or more governing councils (e.g., IFC, NPHC, Panhellenic). Provide guidance and support to all fraternity and sorority leaders. Work closely with chapter presidents and the FSL Presidents Council.
- Assist in the planning and implementing FSL events, leadership retreats, and trainings, including but not limited to risk management, leadership development, academic success, health and safety, community engagement, professional development, and organization management
- Maintain and provide accurate membership records and rosters using Herd Link. Compile and publish pertinent FSL statistics, including academic performance, recruitment, retention, financial, and general information.
- Collaborate with student leaders on risk management education and event registration.
- Support chapter development, academic initiatives, and service tracking.
- Work closely and maintain working relationships with national headquarters, HPD, MUPD, chapter alumni advisors, housing corporations, the City of Huntington, Fire Marshall, and Fraternity/Sorority Alumni.
- Co-chair campus-wide student leadership conference committee.
- Help assess student involvement data and assist with reports on student engagement.
- Assist with Week of Welcome, Student Life programming, departmental marketing/social media, and annual assessment.
- Support university-wide programs led by Military & Veteran Services, Community Service, Parent & Family Programs, Club Sports, and Esports.
- Actively use and assist others with Herd Link for event planning, rosters, co-curricular transcripts, and student engagement tracking.
- 20 hours/week at $12/hour

Graduate Assistants are required to promptly report any information shared with them regarding:
- Sexual misconduct or harassment
- Relationship or dating violence
- Stalking
- Discrimination or bias incidents
- Hazing or other forms of endangerment
Graduate Assistants receive training on reporting obligations, appropriate response protocols, and how to support students while maintaining compliance with university policy.
