Position Information
The School of Health & Movement Sciences at Marshall University invites applications for a nine-month tenure track Instructor or Assistant Professor in Biomechanics/Sports Science.
We seek a dynamic educator and scholar with a strong background in biomechanics and sports science, expertise in instrumentation and data analysis, and a passion for applying principles of human performance.
The Department seeks candidates who will contribute to the University’s general education curriculum and use high-impact teaching practices (e.g., community-based learning, critical thinking, first‑year seminar, writing across the curriculum). Candidates who support and collaborate with interdisciplinary programs within the College are especially encouraged to apply.
Professional Requirements- Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or a closely related field.
- College or university-level teaching experience.
- Expertise with biomechanical instrumentation and software (e.g., motion capture, force platforms, EMG, Mat Lab, Python).
- Demonstrated commitment to high-quality teaching and student engagement.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree preferred; MS considered with ABD by mid‑tenure.
- Research experience in biomechanics or sports science, including advanced instrumentation and data analysis.
- Evidence of scholarly productivity and potential to secure external funding.
- Certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and/or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) is welcome.
- Commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary teaching and the mission of the Marshall University College of Health Professions.

Salary is commensurate with education, qualifications, and experience.
