- Collaborate with medical providers and medical assistants to manage patient care.
- Exercise professional judgment to apply x‑ray energy for diagnosis or treatment for patients of all ages.
The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with medical providers and/or medical assistants to examine and treat UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. The role performs and analyzes patient x‑rays, reports results, and provides administrative support for efficient operation of urgent care centers.
Job Requirements Education- High School Diploma required.
- Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required.
- Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire.
- State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required at time of hire (if applicable).
- Provide x‑ray services as needed.
- Perform x‑ray services for patients using touch‑controlled technique.
- Ensure correct patient positioning and protective measures.
- Assist patients in wheelchair if required.
- Inform technical staff of patient flow.
- Prepare patients through interview, vital signs, and critical case escalation.
- Conduct point‑of‑care testing as needed.
- Maintain medical records and scan charts.
- Conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up.
- Perform equipment checks, QA/QC logs, and maintenance reporting.
- Support clinician decisions and smooth clinic operations.
- Explain procedures and ensure patient comfort.
- Position patients and equipment for optimal imaging.
- Capture clear, high‑quality images.
- Maintain equipment and supplies.
- Follow radiation safety protocols (ALARA).
- Record accurate patient data.
- Verify image quality and forward to radiologists.
- X‑ray procedures and protocols.
- Anatomy and physiology for x‑ray testing.
- Radiology equipment and safety hazards.
- Proper patient positioning.
- Identifying and troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Adhering to infection control and radiation safety procedures.
