Overview
The Department of Biomedical Sciences seeks to fill a Research Assistant I position to work in the Appalachian Natural Product Research Program. Duties involve basic laboratory responsibilities including making solutions, assisting with experiments in isolation of potential medicinal compounds from plant materials, conducting assays including cell culture, collecting and analyzing data, maintaining equipment and glassware, keeping records, and assisting with the preparation of reports, presentations and publications.
Work will primarily be conducted at the Robert W. Coon Education Building, Hershel “Woody” Williams VA Medical Center, Huntington, WV.
- Make solutions and assist with experiments in isolation of potential medicinal compounds from plant materials
- Conduct assays including cell culture experiments
- Collect and analyze data
- Maintain equipment and glassware; keep records
- Assist with preparation of reports, presentations and publications
